SCENE: MITZI (late 20's/early 30's) who had suddenly ended her relationship with DARAN, under somewhat mysterious circumstances, now finds herself confiding in her former love about her current love to whom she scheduled marry tomorrow.
MITZI
(Sighs)
Oh, Daran. What am I going to do?
DARAN
I don't know. What is it you need to do?
MITZI
Garrett and me. We... we had a fight, tonight. The first one we've ever had.
DARAN
Oh.
MITZI
Yeah. And it wasn't just "pre-wedding jitters," either.
DARAN
I'm sorry, Mitzi.
MITZI
Why? You had nothing to do with it.
DARAN
I didn't?
MITZI
No. Garrett doesn't see you as a threat.
DARAN
(Sarcastic)
Gee. That's a load off my mind.
MITZI
(Smiling)
Sorry. I didn't mean that the way it sounded.
DARAN
What's the problem, then?
MITZI
The problem is... he feels like no matter what does, or how hard he tries, he'll never be accepted as part of the family.
DARAN
You've got to be kidding me. From what I saw at dinner, everybody seems to really like him.
MITZI
(Nods)
Everybody... with one notable exception, that is.
DARAN
(With realization)
Oooohhhh.
MITZI
He said he couldn't take it anymore. He'd reached the end of his rope. Tonight was the last straw.
DARAN
What about the wedding?
MITZI
What wedding? The wedding's off. Like it was really ever gonna happen, anyway.
DARAN
Now, why would you say that?
MITZI
Why not? It seems the Goddess of Love has other plans for me, too.
